Sam Shapiro
Sam started his career in a New Orleans classroom through Teach For America, then spent four years at BCG leading strategy and M&A work for Fortune 10 clients before joining Microsoft’s Cloud & AI organization. He founded Eschaton Capital in 2023.He studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Iowa before earning an MBA from Duke (Fuqua). The two disciplines turn out to be more similar than they sound — building an investment thesis requires the same process as writing a story: obsessive revision, internal coherence, and the discipline to abandon a position when the logic stops holding together. Rowdy joined the firm in 2025 in a non-advisory capacity and has since become indispensable to daily operations. His core competencies include unconditional enthusiasm, strategic napping during market downturns, and ensuring that no lunch goes unsupervised.When not in the office, Rowdy pursues independent research in squirrel behavior, Pacific Northwest hydrology (puddles), and the long-term durability of various chew toys. He holds no formal degrees but brings a strong nose for opportunity.
